Hi,
Iām Ashley Edge.
Masters Student Intern
Iām so glad youāre here! For as long as I can remember, Iāve felt drawn to helping others. After exploring different paths and gaining insight through my own life experiences, I discovered my true calling in counseling. I believe no one should feel they have to struggle in silence or feel unseen in their pain. In my own therapy journey, I once heard the words, āI donāt know how to help you,ā and I carry that experience with me as a reminder of the therapist I strive to be. My goal is to meet you exactly where you areāwithout judgmentāand walk alongside you as we work toward meaningful and lasting change.
In my work as a counselor, I primarily use cognitive-behavioral approaches while integrating Adlerian theory. I also embrace the Health at Every Size (HAES) framework and believe that health encompasses far more than a number on the scale. I enjoy working with both men and women to foster a healthier relationship with their bodiesāshifting the focus from appearance to appreciation for what the body is capable of. Having personally experienced disordered eating, I am passionate about helping others find hope, healing, and freedom from the constant pull of food or the mirror.

Outside of the therapy room, youāll often find me browsing a thrift store in search of vintage treasures or enjoying a good workoutāwhether thatās a sweaty gym session or a run outdoors. These days, Iām also a proud homebody who loves curling up with a good book (thriller, romance, or personal growth) on the couch with my dog, Nora.

Hi,
Iām Brandy Tiernan, PhD.
Masters Student Intern
I believe therapy can be a powerful space for healing, self-understanding, and meaningful change. My own experiences with psychotherapy helped me become more self-aware, insightful, and empowered to advocate for myself and others. Because of this, I understands the importance of having a space where clients feel heard, respected, and supported without judgment.
My counseling approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices. I bring warmth, curiosity, and authenticity into the therapy room while helping clients develop practical tools for emotional regulation, coping, self-understanding, and lasting change. I am especially drawn to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) because of its focus on validating human suffering while helping clients move toward a more values-aligned and fulfilling life. My work is also informed by trauma-informed care, strengths-based counseling, Health at Every Size principles, and my background in cognitive neuroscience.
I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, body image concerns, eating disorder recovery, identity development, parenting stress, perinatal and postpartum adjustment, relationship challenges, perfectionism, executive functioning difficulties, and major life transitions. I especially enjoy supporting thoughtful and reflective individuals who want to better understand themselves, their emotions, and their patterns with greater compassion and less shame.

Hi,
Iām Brianna Banowetz.
I am currently pursuing my Masters of Clinical Mental Health at the University of Iowa, where I also earned my bachelors in Interdepartmental Health Studies and a minor in Human Relations. My path toward becoming a mental health professional after finding a passion in wanting to help guide individuals as they navigate life. I want to help individuals become happier, healthier, and become the best version of themselves. My interest in mental health grew because of my minor in the counseling education department. After I graduated with my bachelor's, I got a job as a Behavioral Health Provider. Through this opportunity I got to work closely with individuals and their families while they are navigating the process of behavior change. This experience showed me that with compassion, support, and a safe space, anybody has the ability to grow. Working as a behavioral health provider solidified the idea that I wanted to continue my education in mental health and ultimately guided me back to school to pursue my master's in Clinical Mental Health.
During sessions, my goal is to create a collaborative environment where you feel heard, supported, and understood. I believe therapy should be a safe space where you can show up as you are without judgement while getting to explore your experiences, values, and goals. This is created by guiding you throughout your healing journey through the values of Health at Every Size (HAES), trauma-informed care, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I believe that every client has the ability to heal. My goal is to help guide you through the process, which is not linear, and ultimately reach a state where you feel healthier. My role is to walk alongside you as you find ways to better understand yourself, navigate challenges, and work towards lasting growth and change.
I enjoy working with adults of all ages, couples, and families while they are navigating all aspects of life. I strive to provide support and compassion to clients, who are trying to understand your trauma, heal from disordered eating, battling anxiety, depression, or are just trying to find ways to become a better version of yourselves. I offer both in person and virtual sessions and want to provide a space where you feel empowered to tell your story. Every client has a different story, with different chapters and different characters that have created who they are today. As a counselor, I hope to help you make sense of those chapters while creating a story that shows how resilient you are.

About Me
Outside of session, youāll find me reading (fantasy, romance, thriller/mystery are my favorite genres), spending time with my family and friends. I also talk probably a little too much about my four furbabies. I enjoy keeping up to date with popular TV shows and movies, hiking, traveling, trying new places to eat, and sipping coffee on my patio. I love the color purple, a sweet treat, and admittedly, a good doom scroll. I would be honored to walk alongside you as you navigate your journey toward healing and growth.

Hi,
Iām Carlie Mather.
I am a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master's student at the University of Iowa. I understand what it is like to feel isolated and unsure where to turn next when things feel overwhelming - and I have personally experienced how life-changing it can be when you find someone who believes in your ability to heal. I feel so honored to support individuals as they courageously share their stories, as I understand how vulnerable this work can be.
I find myself drawn to working with teens and young adults struggling with eating disorders and body image challenges, as I deeply empathize with those who experience the pervasive impacts of diet culture and the pressure to change their bodies. My goal is to provide a space where you feel safe to explore these experiences and to create an environment where you can de-center this aspect of your life to make room for what fulfills you most.
In the therapy space, I strive to create an authentic, collaborative environment - balancing compassion and curiosity as we explore your personal goals for the healing process. I aim to create a space in which individuals feel unconditionally valued and supported, adapting my approach to what you need for that session. Health At Every Size (HAES) is a framework that serves as a crutch for my approach with clients, as I believe everyone is worthy of experiencing peace and joy with food and their body.

About Me
In my free time, Iām probably trying out different cafes to find the best vanilla latte in the area or rewatching Greyās Anatomy (for the hundredth time)! I love to find joy in the little things, whether that be fresh flowers in my kitchen, sharing meals with the people I love, or a good chai. Oh, and I love talking new Trader Joe's finds - and will certainly integrate some humor when it fits!
