What’s a Hanni?
Hanni The Manatee, or Hanni for short, is the unofficial official mascot of Health Hope Harmony.
Born from a game Sabrina played with some old coworkers, Hanni is plastic manatee floating around the Cedar Rapid’s office lobby with an invitation: find her and hide her.
Hanni was designed to let clients and staff connect indirectly while waiting for sessions to start. Through her sneaky hiding spots, Hanni lets every guest join in a game of hide and seek.
Despite their large size and slow speed (5 mph), manatees are graceful swimmers. They can perform many swimming maneuvers despite having little reason to! Manatees have no known predators so they live long lives eating ocean and river vegetation.
Sabrina chose a manatee because manatees are her favorite animal—for good reason!
Manatees are gentle giants that like warm water. Although mostly solitary creatures, manatees are generally friendly and socialize with other manatees passing by. Manatees communicate through touch!
Although there’s much to love, our favorite part about manatees is their ability to live authentically. With little pressure to conform or impress, manatees live rich individual lives alongside their communities—reminding us to slow down, chill out, and find a deeper connection with ourselves and the world around us.
